An impressive, exceptionally brilliant Fluorite specimen from the legendary Gipfelkluft of Weißeck, captivating with its remarkable transparency, fascinating crystal surface and an almost magical interplay of colours.

This generously proportioned Fluorite displays a degree of clarity and brilliance reminiscent of fine gem-quality material. Particularly enchanting is its unusually structured termination, whose intricate surface resembles a majestic landscape of snow-covered alpine peaks. A wonderful creation of nature that gives this crystal an unmistakable character.

Within the crystal unfolds a spectacular pastel rainbow. Delicate greens transition into various shades of blue, accompanied by elegant burgundy-red hues before merging into soft and deeper violets. These flowing colour zones appear suspended within the crystal, revealing extraordinary depth and luminosity, particularly when viewed against the light.

Rising to 2,711 metres, Weißeck is the highest summit of the Radstädter Tauern and home to one of Europe’s most important alpine Fluorite localities. Its celebrated Gipfelkluft lies at approximately 2,670 metres, steeply below the summit and accessible only under extremely demanding conditions. For decades, this remarkable locality has yielded extraordinary Fluorites, admired by collectors worldwide for their distinctive colours and crystal formations.

Complex geological conditions, tectonic stresses and natural weathering have influenced crystal development at this high-alpine locality. Successive growth stages and multiple generations of crystallisation can produce the remarkable variety of internal colour zoning for which Weißeck Fluorites are celebrated. As beautifully preserved crystal faces are comparatively uncommon, particularly attractive specimens are especially desirable.

The combination of impressive size, almost gem-quality brilliance, a termination reminiscent of snow-covered mountain peaks and the full spectrum of a delicate pastel rainbow makes this an extraordinary display specimen. A captivating alpine masterpiece for the discerning mineral collector!
