Brazilianite with Albite – Golden-Yellow Crystal Architecture with White Accents
A substantial, broad prismatic brazilianite forms the centrepiece of this compact specimen. Its warm golden-yellow colour carries delicate yellow-green nuances in places. Broad crystal faces, bevelled edges and smaller accompanying brazilianite crystals create a layered composition that reveals fresh details as the specimen turns.
The white albite provides a particularly appealing contrast. Individual tabular crystals rest on the yellow faces, while a larger, stepped albite group frames the specimen along one edge. The brazilianite remains visually dominant, complemented by a pale, finely textured surround. Vitreous reflections alternate with subtly textured surfaces, while transparent to translucent areas reveal internal veils and occasional dark inclusions.
Brazilianite is a comparatively rare sodium aluminium phosphate that crystallises in the monoclinic system. The Córrego Frio Mine near Linópolis is its type locality: material from this deposit provided the basis for the first scientific description by Pough and Henderson in 1945. Its characteristic association with albite also makes this specimen an attractive example of the phosphate-rich pegmatites of Minas Gerais.
An expressive collector’s piece combining substantial crystal form, warm colour and an engaging arrangement of albite accents.
In crystalhealing traditions, brazilianite is associated with self-confidence, creative energy and clarity. Albite is linked with openness and fresh perspectives.
