A magnificently crystallised Fluorite specimen from the legendary Gipfelkluft of Weißeck, displaying the unmistakable icy-blue colour for which the Fluorites of this celebrated high-alpine locality are admired by collectors worldwide.
The beautifully developed crystals reveal a captivating, crystalline ice-blue interior, gradually transitioning into delicate violet hues towards their exceptionally attractive crystal faces. These subtle colour transitions lend the specimen remarkable elegance. When viewed against the light, its excellent transparency reveals an enchanting interplay of internal colour zoning, luminosity and crystalline structure.
Rising to 2,711 metres, Weißeck is the highest summit of the Radstädter Tauern and home to one of Europe’s most important alpine Fluorite localities. The famous Gipfelkluft lies at approximately 2,670 metres, steeply below the summit and accessible only under extremely demanding conditions. For decades, this remarkable occurrence has produced extraordinary Fluorites, often displaying multiple generations of crystal growth and a fascinating spectrum of colours, occasionally resembling delicate pastel rainbows.
Tectonic stresses and natural weathering have made perfectly preserved crystal faces comparatively uncommon at this locality. The superb crystal development of this particular specimen is therefore especially appealing, beautifully complemented by its transparency and distinctive ice-blue to violet colour zoning.
An exceptionally aesthetic and classic Weißeck Fluorite, perfectly illustrating why specimens from the Gipfelkluft enjoy such an outstanding reputation among discerning collectors.
In traditional crystal healing, blue Fluorite is associated with mental clarity, tranquillity and harmonious communication, while violet Fluorite symbolises intuition and inner balance. These spiritual associations are not scientifically established.
