Brazilianite with Albite – Yellow-Green Crystals and White Albite Fans

Substantial brazilianite crystals in fresh yellow-green and warm golden yellow combine with white albite plates to create a sculptural specimen with striking contrast. Its changing appearance is particularly appealing: one side is dominated by broad, overlapping albite fans, while the opposite side reveals a prominent brazilianite crystal with generous prism faces and a distinctive combination of termination faces.

Additional crystals project in different directions, giving the group depth and an engaging three-dimensional arrangement. Vitreous faces alternate with finely textured areas, while transparent to translucent sections reveal internal veils and natural inclusions. The albite provides an elegant counterpoint through its stepped edges and occasional pearly reflections. This interplay makes the specimen rewarding to explore from several angles.

Brazilianite is a comparatively rare sodium aluminium phosphate that crystallises in the monoclinic system. The Córrego Frio Mine holds a special place in mineralogical history as its type locality: brazilianite was first scientifically described in 1945 using material found there. Its association with albite represents the characteristic mineral assemblage of the region’s phosphate-rich pegmatites.

In crystal traditions, brazilianite is associated with self-confidence, clarity and creative energy. Albite is linked with openness and a willingness to explore new directions.
